Why Austin Custom Cork Boards
Every board is custom-sized, hand-assembled, and finished in Austin. No factory defaults — just your dimensions, your wall.
A layer of 24-gauge galvanized steel sheet sits beneath the cork, making the entire surface magnetic. Use push pins and magnets — neither damages the cork surface.
Finger-jointed primed pine molding — 9/16" or 11/16" thick, thicker than standard shelf stock — mitered, brad-nailed, caulked, and painted white for a true built-in look.
Order any size in whole feet — from a compact 1×2 ft desktop board to a 6×8 ft wall display. The cork tiles are 12"×12", so whole-foot sizing means zero cut tiles and a perfectly clean finish.
Each 12"×12" cork square is peel-and-stick and self-contained. If a tile gets scratched, damaged, or worn over time, you can peel it off and press a fresh one in — no tools, no special skills.
The 12"×12" self-adhesive natural cork tiles aren't just easy to install — they're easy to maintain. Kids scratch things. Pins leave marks. Over time, any cork surface shows wear. With individual tiles, you simply peel and replace the affected square yourself. Standard 12"×12" cork tiles are available from Amazon and most craft stores for a few dollars each, so you'll never need to replace the whole board.

The Process
2.7mm Lauan (Meranti) plywood is cut to your cork surface dimensions. Finger-jointed pine molding is mitered to frame all four edges.
24-gauge galvanized steel sheet is cut and bonded to the plywood face. The ferromagnetic steel core is what makes the board hold magnets — the zinc coating keeps it corrosion-resistant.
Natural 12"×12" × ½" cork tiles are pressed flush, edge to edge, over the steel layer. Each tile is self-adhesive, independently replaceable, and sits exactly one square foot.
The painted pine frame is brad-nailed, caulked, and sanded for a seamless look. Hanging hardware is included — your board arrives ready to go on the wall.
